We eat well at The Malt Shovel Tavern. We don't have a regular evening menu, it's true, but twice a month we have special foodie nights to delight your taste buds. Our Curry Club is perfect if you like things spicy, while our Good Grub evenings aim to put a twist on popular favourites.

Ok, so we're not a sports bar, but we do love our sport, especially our local and national teams. You'll find the big occasions on our big screen, so watch the calendar, get a group of mates together and ask about our Sports Party Packages!
Test your general and trivia knowledge at The Malt Shovel Tavern. We run two quizzes a month on the first and third Thursday at 8pm. Maximum team size is 8 players and entry is £1 per player. There are cash prizes for the winners.
OUR 2018 Belgian Beer Festival kicks off with a tutored beer tasting with an expert from Duvel Mortgat. Taste and learn the finer points of Belgian beer, and take home a personalised bottle of Vedett to help you continue your education and enjoyment! Tickets cost £10 per person and include a buffet supper. Book you place at the bar!

Choose from chicken waterzooi, flamishe aux poireaux or tomates aux crevettes for starters… moules et frites, boulettes, carbonates or croquettes for mains… and, if you’ve got the room, waffles, chocolate (of course!) mousse or la dame blanche for dessert. And wash it down with a bottle of Belgian beer. Tickets cost £19.99 per person and can be booked in advance at the bar.

Chicken waterzooi – rich creamy chicken, leek and potato soup served with crusty bread.
Flamishe aux poireaux – leek tart with salad garnish.
Tomates aux crevettes – shrimp stuffed tomato on a bed of salad.
Moules et frites – choose from the classic mussels steamed in white wine with a hint of cream and garlic or served in a tasty tomato and chilli sauce.
Boulettes – Belgian meatballs in a rich tomato sauce served on a bed of creamy mash.
Flemish carbonates – beef stew infused with dark Belgian beer and served with stoemp, a vegetable and potato mash.
Croquettes – handmade creamy cheese and chive potato croquettes served with frites and salad.
Belgian waffles – topped with berry compote and dusted with icing sugar.
Belgian chocolate mousse – served with fresh raspberries.
La dame blanche – hot Belgian chocolate sundae featuring vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, warm Belgian chocolate sauce, topped with a cherry!
